BADA / MAA: pre-season symposium

This week sees the MAA (Military Aviation Authority) host the 2013 pre-season airshow symposium in conjunction with BADA, the British Air Display Association.

The event takes place at Shrivenham and will be attended by a whole host of people involved with making airshows happen in the UK; organisers, official bodies (such as the CAA), display directors, display pilots, commentators etc…

The two day symposium incorporates presentations, open forums and networking – all if which ensure that the UK’s airshows are run in a safe and entertaining fashion, with everyone well aware of the do’s and don’t’s and rules and regulations. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the amount of work that goes in to staging an airshow of any size and is always an extremely useful event to attend.

This will be the first time I’ve attended having accepted a role on BADA’s Media Working Group. I’ve got plenty of ideas in this regard and I look forward to seeing what the Association would like me to do and, hopefully, incorporating some of my own plans as well.

Other than that, I’m really looking forward to catching up with plenty of familiar faces ahead of the 2013 season, and will also fit in some meetings with my colleagues on the Dawlish Air Show team.

Should be a good one!
